Whistler Restaurants
|
|
Whistler's reputation as a truly
international resort is reflected in its variety of cuisine. More that 80
restaurants throughout the Resort serve up everything from rack of lamb
and spicy Thai cuisine to sushi and traditional North American fare. And
both mountains offer gourmet mountain top dining, from hearty early
morning breakfasts to special evening functions and themed events. Whether for breakfast, brunch,
lunch or dinner, guests can choose from casual pub meals to formal dining,
from cozy bistros to family restaurants.
When the sun goes down the options
are still wide open. An evening amble under the stars. A pint of lager in
a cozy pub. Popcorn at the movies. The flip side of Whistler Resort is all
about winding down the way you like to. Whether it be a romantic
candlelight dinner, casual conversation in an intimate lounge, or dancing
in a high-energy night club, Whistler has something for everyone.
Bearfoot Bistro
The Bearfoot is our favourite restaurant in Whistler. They have a brand new wine
bar and if you are into champagne and fine wine you will love this place, that's
for sure! An evening at the Bearfoot is a full on 3 hour dining experience, so
is not for everyone. However, if you have a palette for fine food, wines and
cheeses and you like to splurge while on holiday then you won't want to miss
this one. You haven't done Whistler until you've sabered a bottle of champagne
at the Bearfoot!
Araxi Ristorante
Araxi is Whistler's trendiest restaurant serving Nouveau Cuisine focussing on
Pacific Northwest with an Italian flair. They offer an extensive and innovative
fine dining menu covering the best of the local land and sea. A lively
atmosphere, great food and a location in the center of the main Whistler village
make this a great choice. Also has one of Whistler's top wine menus and offers a
great martini bar.
Hy's Steakhouse
Best steaks in Whistler. Warm, cozy atmosphere with impeccable service. They
also serve some great seafood dishes. Order one of their fine salads and watch
them make it in front of you. Our guests have consistently given this restaurant
two thumbs up with friendly service and even better food.
Umberto's: Il Caminetto
Il Caminetto offers fine Tuscan cuisine at its very best accompanied by a large
selection of international wines with the emphasis on Italian reds. While
Italian is certainly the focus, the menu is quite varied so appeals to a broad
range of tastes.
La Rua
The international menu at La Rua has a bit of everything and they serve it up in
style. The atmosphere is less ritzy than the trendier restaurants and they go
for personalized, friendly service. While the presentation of the food is
excellent, the portions are more about substance than flair, so you won't leave
hungry! La Rua is the best value of the fine dining restaurants in Whistler.
Rimrock Cafe
The Rimrock is the only true seafood restaurant in Whistler. It is known for its
rustic cabin style atmosphere and has long since been known as the local's
favourite. It is a great alternative for people who like to get away from the
busier Whistler village as it is located in Creekside, a 5 minute drive from
Whistler village.
Edgewater
The Edgewater is a small restaurant just north of Whistler's main village. If
you are looking for a cozy, rustic and romantic atmosphere with great food this
is it. They serve Whistler's best venison.
Elements - NEW
Fun tapas style restaurant. Newly open in 2005, it offers a great alternative to
the fine dining restaurants if you are looking for a quicker meal without
sacrificing on the quality. It is located off to the side of the village so it
is good if you are looking for the hidden gem of a restaurant.
Fifty-two 80 Bistro - NEW
Located in the Four Seasons resort, this restaurant is notable for its fine
seafood selection combined along with some spit-roasted specialties and Canadian
prime beef off the grill. The restaurant keeps up with the traditions of the
Four Seasons in offering exceptional service.
Mix by Ric's -NEW
This is the newest trendy lounge in Whistler offering a lively atmosphere. It is
a great place to eat late and watch the village go by.
Monk's Grill
Fantastic food in a fun atmosphere. Located at the base of Blackcomb, this place
has one of Whistler's best apres ski lounges and then turns into a casual fine
dining restaurant in the evening. Steak and Seafood are the specialties.
Satchi Sushi
They offer great sushi in a cute Japanese setting. It isn't as lively as sushi
village, but they aren't too far off. The restaurant itself has been renovated
recently so it has a very clean feel to it.
Sushi Village
Fun, lively sushi bar. People have been known to dance on the tables here. They
only take reservations for parties of 6 or more in their tatimi rooms, so if you
are interested in eating here you had better go early.
Tandoori Grill
Whistler's only Indian restaurant. If you want a curry to warm you up after a
day on the slopes then this is where you want to go!
Thai One On
The name says it all. This is the only Thai restaurant in Whistler.
Trattoria di Umberto
The Trattoria isn't quite as upscale as its sister restaurant Il Caminetto, but
the quality is just as good with a less formal atmosphere. It consistently gets
good reviews from our guests and comes highly recommended.
Wildflower
Located in the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. It is one of the resort's best kept
secrets. They serve west coast cuisine in the charming setting of the resort's
best hotel. They have a great brunch on Sundays.
Zen Sushi - NEW
This restaurant is the fine dining of Sushi. Great sushi and a fantastic array
of sake to choose from. They are located over in Creekside (5 minutes south of
the village) but have a promotion whereby they pay for one half of the taxi fare
from the village if you dine with them.
Family Restaurants: (Also good for people looking for a casual night out)
Caramba
Mediterranean restaurant which is popular among familes. It is a good option for
larger groups due to their large seating area and group menus. They serve a
delicious roast platter that has lots of selection and lots of substance. (Group
menus must be ordered in advance, min 6 people)
The Brew House
An American style restaurant and bar with lots of local favourites on the menu.
It is a great place for larger groups or for families looking for casual dining.
They make their own beer right on the premises which always makes for a fun
evening.
Dubh Linn Gate Pub
The best pub grub in town. Enjoy the 'best pint of Guiness poured outside of
Ireland' while taking in a live Irish band. The serving sizes are enormous here
so if you are hungry it is a great option.
Mongolie Grill
Stir-fry restaurant. You choose what you'd like and they cook it in front of
you. This is a fun place for families or for people looking for something a
little different. Unfortunately they don't take reservations so you quite often
have to wait.
Splitz Grill
Whistler's best burger. Don't forget to add the chocolate milkshake!
Teppan Village
Guests sit around the grill where the Teppanyaki chef cooks stir fry right in
front of you. They flip their knives and put on the full show. Always a hit with
the kids and the food is always good too.
