Hotel Review of the
Sundial Boutique Hotel Whistler
Jan 9, 2011
Just returned from 10 days at the Sundial. Fantastic location by the lifts and
the apartments are a decent size. However this place is not cheap and markets
itself as a somewhat upscale establishment and does not live up to this,
specifically:
- while the apartments have been upgraded in a reasonably tasteful fashion, the
work is partial and , for example, the bathrooms appear untouched for many years
and are decidedly scruffy. There is also a bizarre shortage of light making
tasks like unpacking almost impossible.
- front desk staff are friendly but quite useless if you want anything done
(other than getting skis out)
-no common areas in the hotel aside from a few sofas by the front desk and a
rather depressing hot tub nestling by aerials on the roof

From the moment we arrived we were given the most delightful service, from
checkin with the manager david offering us a upgrade for free, which meant our
own hot tub on the balcony, to every silly question and need I required
throughout the week all staff happily and professionally served us, in fact of
all the places in the world that I have stayed at, I would have to say that this
hotels staff were collectively the best ever. The location was superb, our skis
were handed to us each morning and then it was a hop, skip, and jump to the
gondolas. The beds were amazing too good, no one wanted to get out in the
morning. This was a wonderful boutique hotel that will care for your every need,
warmly welcome you and place you on the ski slopes or restaurants in minutes
Highly recommend it.

I stayed for one night in mid November and lucky me struck the first snowfall of
the season - nothing like waking up in the morning to find a wonderland outside!
My room was on the top floor - well laid out, with a well equipped kitchen, nice
lounge and extremely comfortable bed in the separate bedroom. Management had
just replaced all the mattresses and asked for our feedback - definitely a
thumbs up from me!
Staff on reception were very friendly and welcoming.
Great location right at the top of the village, at the base of Whistler
Mountain.
Had a look at the hot-tub on the top floor - not a particularly appealing
setting.
The small TV in bedroom was faulty - reported to reception so was hopefully
repaired for next guests.
Overall a nice hotel and would definitely recommend

My wife and I have stayed here twice, and we would happily go back in a second.
The rooms are superbly kept, every person working there is friendly, and the
atmosphere is laid back and totally friendly.
I would like to give a special thank you to Liz and Martine from Guest Services
for helping me to secure the Hot Tub room that I wanted, for helping to get a
birthday cake for my wife, and for recommending the Scandinave Spa as a place to
relax. Also, thank you to Graham. He always seemed to be working, but always
took the time to greet us.
You can't go wrong with this hotel at all. If you get the chance, do check it
out.

I'm from Vancouver and not much of a snow sport kind of person, but I always try
to go up to Whistler in the summer/fall when it's not so busy and expensive.
I always stay at the Sundial Hotel when I go up and it's a great place to stay.
I always try to get one of the rooms with a private hot tub on the balcony.
These rooms are located on the 3rd, 7th, and 8th floors. They are obviously
worth a bit more money, but in the fall they are totally worth the money for a
little weekend getaway. The staff is great and always accommodating. The hotel
doesn't have a pool or gym, but there is a hot tub for those who don't get one
of these rooms. It is a great location at the edge of the village. The suites
are clean and come with a complete kitchen, dining room, and living area. Heated
floors in the bathroom are nice. The couch in the living room are pull-out beds
also. Parking is about $23 a day in their secure underground parkade.
A great weekend getaway! Plenty of places to eat, shop, and play or just chill
out at the hotel in a hot tub and enjoy the amazing surrounding mountain views.
We happened to pick a great weekend to go because there was a meteor shower
happening. We just sat in our 8th floor hot tub and looked up at the sky to
catch some shooting stars!
