Aava Hotel Whistler Reviews

really enjoyed our trip to whistler while staying at the aava hotel. it's one of
the more modern hotels in the area, and we appreciated the sleek furniture. do
keep in mind that there is no restaurant/bar/room service, and the hot tub was
definitely jam-packed during our stay. didn't stop us though. they also offer
geocam's FREE to rent for the day for the slopes, so we got some great video
footage from our time on the mountain. the whistler village is easily
accessible, and even better when you cut through the hilton hotel! oh ya, and
free internet is always really nice! all hotels charge for parking, and this was
only $16/night (better than other places).

We typically stay at the Westin or Four Seasons, but decided to try Aava. With
teenagers we need two rooms so were accustomed to paying 1000+ per night for
accommodations. We got an amazing room for $618 that was so comfortable for all
of us. Two hotel rooms and sandwiched between them was a huge living room,
kitchen and another bed and bathroom. Basically the size of 4 hotel rooms. It's
on the 4th floor (413, 415, 417) so you get vaulted ceilings. Very clean and
modern and I loved the Kohler bath fixtures and quality bedding. We were located
just behind the Westin, a short walk to the lifts and we just had to cross the
street to be in the village near the main square of Whistler.
Being used to valet, concierge etc, we had to figure out the workings of the
hotel (you unload your own bags, self park etc) but since it's a ski trip and we
were hauling stuff around anyway, no big deal.
The front desk gives out free HD helmet cameras for skiing but you have to check
in about 7pm the night before or they are all gone. We didn't get one, but now
we know.
The restaurant associated with the hotel has good food but is painfully slow. A
1/2 empty place made us wait 20 minutes for a table, then 20 minutes for
beverages and a total of 90 minutes in and out for breakfast 3 mornings in a
row. Not good for anxious skiers. Room service was faster and brought right up
to the room from the same place.
We slept well and the hotel was quiet, but you could hear people in the hall or
leaving their room. If there was a party of noisy crowd near us it would have
been noticeable, but the hotel was not full so we were in a quiet section.

We arrived at the Aava Whistler and were quickly checked in. The hotel is
located just a 3 minute walk to the center of the Village. Lots of restaurants,
shopping, pharmacies, ski rental shops and the mountain lifts nearby. Itīs close
to all but yet it is still a bit away from all noise. We really did not spend a
lot of time at the hotel but it was comfortable. The rooms were a bit small but
we still fit. They have lockers available to put your rented (or owned) ski gear
in. The restaurant is called the White Spot and it is outside the hotel. The
food is very good but a bit pricey. All in all, we were happy with our stay
there and would love to go back to visit again.

The hotel looks great on the website and in the lobby but the rooms are very
small and not worth the expense. I booked a package with breakfast but they
didn't offer it to me when I arrived. Also, they don't have a restaurant - they
sent us down the road to a White Spot to eat :(

1person found this review helpfulThis was my second trip to Whistler. The Aava
was clean, only a five-minute walk from both lifts, yet just off the main
village, so quiet and peaceful. The hot tub and dry sauna were welcome after a
day on the mountain (although the tub gets full at peak times). Just across the
way was the White Spot diner (which is like the Canadian version of Shoney's),
which always had convenient breakfast location before hitting the slopes. Would
stay here again definitely. As a plus, it's also just adjacent to the Telus
Conference Centre which is where many events are often held (including
WinterPride).
