Hotel Review of the
Sundial Boutique Hotel Whistler
Feb 14, 2011
Our family (3 children and 3 adults) stayed the beginning of February. We stayed
in a mountain view 2 bedroom on the 7th floor. From the moment we arrived the
service was excellent. We had A LOT of gear since we were traveling with a baby,
2 children, and 3 adults. The front desk met us at our car, helped us unload all
of our gear, and got us up to our room in no time at all. By the time I had the
car parked, our gear had been delivered to our room!
The view from our room was amazing! On Sunday night we watched the "Fire and
Ice" show at the base of the gondola from our window. The room was large, well
laid out and handled our family in comfort. There was a nice kitchen area and we
cooked dinner in the room almost every night. The roof top hot tub was in good
condition and I thought it was nicer in person than in the virtual tour. We used
the hot tub everyday after skiing.
We travel to Whistler yearly and have stayed in many different hotels. This was
our first stay with Sundial and it will now be our #1 choice. The Sundial has
the best service, location, and rooms out of all of our previous trips.

After doing extensive research last year, we booked the Sundial (Deluxe 1BR with
private hot tub) almost a year out. In our research, all the recommendations
pointed to Suite 705, so we specifically reserved that room. WOW!!! The room was
massive, tastefully decorated and had everything you could of would need. The
deck was larger than most of our friends suites in other hotels. The views from
the hot tub were simply stunning. We travelled with 3 other couples who all
stayed at different hotels. The consensus was that our Suite was probably the
BEST suite in Whistler. As such, everyone gravitated to our suite for hot tub,
drinks after skiing.
The hotel staff was always extremely accommodating. One evening on the way back
from the grocery, liquor store and without any capacity to carry anything more,
I entered the lobby and the girl from the front desk immediately came out to
meet me at the elevator and to swipe the access card to get me up to my floor.
Small, but meaningful touches like that made our stay the best we have ever
experienced (BTW, they will also go to the store for you if you prefer)
The hotel is perfectly situated to get to the lifts in under 2 minutes from the
time you exit the lobby door. Our suite was perfectly situated to watch the Fire
& Ice show put on each Sunday night. We were able to set-up the video camera in
our bedroom window to record the whole show (It was great that we could sit by
the living room fireplace and watch while the masses braved the rain to watch
from ground level). As the hotel is located right in the middle of the action,
it did get a bit loud at times at night, but since we were so exhausted from
skiing, it didn't really affect us.
All in all, staying at the Sundial greatly contributed to our phenomenal
vacation to Whistler. Of all the things you cannot control (i.e. WEATHER),
making the choice to stay at the Sundial is one that you can and you won't
regret it.

Loved our stay here. Our room was on the 7th floor and looked right out to the
Whistler gondola and mountain. It is a great location and the service is
excellent. They take your skiis from you as you enter the lobby. The kitchen has
everything that you need and the bathroom floors are heated. Loved it!

Booked our stay with Shelley at Tour de Sports so did not know what exactly to
expect. We had a great stay with great skiing. But the staff at the Sundial
Hotel at the base of the mountain - 30 seconds walk to the Gondola - by
themselves is worth the stay. They were the most professional and the
friendliest group of people we've ever stayed with. Angela Cook behind the front
desk is a complete joy. Graham and Jason were always cheerful and looked after
us and all of our needs. They called restaurants for us, made reservations, gave
us maps and drew directions, all with terrific energy. I'm telling you it made
an impression on us. We'll come back.

I stayed here with my husband for a 10 night ski holiday, on our second trip to
Whistler. We were in a one bed suite on the 4th floor, and according to the
floor plan, in the smallest room on the floor. Despite this, we found the suite
spacious, well appointed and comfortable. The bedroom, living area and bathroom
are independently temperature controlled, which is ideal for drying out wet kit.
We loved the heated bathroom floor, and it’s always a treat to be provided with
a bathrobe.
This suite has everything you could possibly need including two televisions,
lockable safe, coffee maker, dishwasher, microwave, cooker, fridge/freezer and
plenty of kitchen utensils. The bed is enormous and very comfortable.
We chose not to pay extra for a mountain view, balcony or hot tub, and while I’m
sure these would have been nice, we didn’t miss them.
There is secure ski storage where reception staff take equipment from you as you
return to the hotel, and hand it back as you exit in the morning. Staff are all
very friendly, helpful and professional. They always had a welcoming smile as we
walked past reception, and had plenty of patience when we repeatedly messed up
setting the safe.
The location was great – situated right at the bottom of Whistler mountain, and
very close to the main village near lots of bars and restaurants
The only downside was the noise on a few nights. We stayed over Marin Luther
King weekend (think Spring Break), and we could hear loud teenagers in the
streets below. I could also hear snow ploughs early on in the mornings.
Be aware there is nowhere convenient outside of your room to wax boards and
skis.
