If you want a good budget place to stay @ Whistler, I recommend!!! The suite is
large, good room with king size bed, living room with sofa bed & full kitchen
(they have also units with 2 and 3 bedrooms). It is located in a quiet place
very close to Blackcomb's base. It is not actually a hotel. It is a residence
with some room service. Perfect if you don't mind staying in a place with no
restaurant. There is a good supermarket very close to the place where you can
buy everything you need. Late arrivers, be aware: the front desk closes @ 5:00
PM; after that you have to go to another hotel to check-in (carefully read the
instructions in the reservation letter).

We were very satisfied with the location of this hotel for snow skiing. The bus
picks up right outside the hotel and is only a few short stops to Blackcomb
mountain.
This hotel does not have a restaurant on site. The market village is nearby via
the bus route for groceries, etc. However, I recommend picking up extras in the
town called Squamish before you get to Whistler. This saves time and money.
There are many good restaurants in Whistler though if you don’t plan on cooking
in your suite.

My wife and I have been to the Horstman House twice in the last two years. We
enjoyed both visits and would not hesitate to go back. The 1BR unit is very
spacious. Some 1BR units are over 700 sf. The rooms have tasteful furniture, a
gas fireplace, washer/dryer, deck, full kitchen, and wonderful bathroom with
deep soaking tub. It sleeps four comfortably. The lobby is very nice with a
large fireplace and leather chairs. It also has many activities for children
(pool table, big screen tv, play room, swimming pool, etc.) This is a ski in
resort with a free shuttle to the Village (3 minutes). It is within walking
distance to Lost Lake. Enjoy your visit to the Horstman House!

We had mixed feelings about the Horstman House. The hotel staff is excellent and
the Hotel itself is beautiful with the free bus stop right in front. We loved
sitting in the hot tub while it snowed as the kids swam in the heated pool. The
room we had was beautiful, roomy, and the balcony was large and looked out onto
the mountain with an occasional skier or snowboarder going by. So why the mixed
feelings? We have three kids and apparently the floors are paper thin. Ironically
we thought the kids were being well behaved when we got a knock on the door at
10:30 at night from the very annoyed guy downstairs asking for us to "walk
lighter". He acted as though we were stomping around. The next day the front
desk called to politely ask us to keep it down, my wife talked to the attendant
who was very nice but admitted noise travelled easily. All in all we loved the
Horstman and their staff was ALWAYS professional and courteous, but after our
experience we'd feel more comfortable going back once the kids are older.

Wow, the apartment we had at Horstman House was just fantastic! Really spacious,
big comfy bed, wonderful bathroom and all the mod-cons, and all this for a
fraction of the cost of staying in the very centre of Whistler. The down-side? A
5-minute drive into the village. Big deal, eh? You also get a great view of
Blackcomb mountain, and are just minutes away from some great bike trails.
Staff were accommodating enough, but overall this place has the feel of a 4-star
hotel. Added to this the gorgeous swimming pool, hot tub and BBQ facilities, as
well as the free pool table and games room next to the lobby - it all added up
to a really rewarding stay. Would DEFINITELY recommend!

We rented a car from Vancouver airport - Free underground parking at the
Horstman House. A lot of people said one of the village was really close for
groceries but when we went it was pretty darn cold so walking that distance
wasn't pleasant, we just drove. If it was warmer out then the walk would be
nice. It's about a 1-min drive down a sloped set of streets.
The bus pick up is right in front of the Horstman House, very convenient. There
is also a ski-in from Blackcomb, but the run colour (I forget now) was blue I
think and I was too scared to try it, hahaha.
Horstman was cozy...lobby had a pool table, our room was quite large, 1bdrm with
living room, fairly large balcony, open-concept living room, dining area and
kitchen and a large bathroom with tub and separate shower. There was a gas fire
place, 2 TV's (one in the living room & one in the bedroom), and a mini CD
player. Maid service daily but just to do simple things like take out garbage,
give us towels....they only change sheets on the 3rd day.
I would definitely recommend this place to someone....the price was right, and
the amount of room we had in there was perfect. It was cozy in our little
apartment. We had a fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher....we cooked most of
our meals in our room. |
