Hotel Review of the
Holiday Inn Hotel Whistler
Oct 11, 2010
My two teens and me had a good time to stay at Holiday Inn Whistler.
Convenient location to the lifts, restaurant and supermarket, as well as
shuttle bus station. We did have experience having young adults making
noise while passing our hotel at midnight. Besides that, it is the best
buy at Whistler. Full kitchen, Jacuzzi bath tub, even washer and drier.
We definitely will like to stay at this hotel for the next ski season.

I got the hotel room last minute on Priceline for 80$ before taxes and
all their other charges. Not bad for Whistler. BUT had I paid full price
for the hotel as advertised (started at 110$), I would've been an angry
puppy. They charged 16$ for parking (I don't care where I am, paying for
hotel parking is asinine). We also are non-credit card carriers. If we
don't have cash we don't buy it. Therefore, when they pre-approved 200$
on our debit card and didn't put it back for 4 days after our stay, it
put a cramp on the funds. Our fireplace didn't work. The only thing that
really made the stay was that we were running late check-out morning and
when I called and asked for a late check out (expecting a 1200pm
deadline), they offered me a free membership to something-or-other and a
2pm checkout time. That was really helpful and appreciated. Staff was
friendly and helpful. Parking garage is not attached to main hotel lobby
and that was kind of confusing.

Holiday Inn Hotel Whistler

On the whole the Holiday Inn Hotel Whistler is very good. Our friends had a large
lounge/kitchen and large bedroom with two queen beds, TV and plenty of
room. We had a corner room with a well equipped kitchen, a smaller
lounge than our friends and a very small bedroom. The bedroom also had
two queen beds, one no space down one side and cramped under a sloping
roof. This bed had no light to use and would really be only suitable for
children to use. The other bed, which we used, had a one light and
enough space at one side. The other side gap was very narrow and we
really felt cramped, compared with all of the other ten hotels used in
our trip. Our bedroom had no TV (there would not be room for it.)
Because of the sloping ceiling in the bathroom, you could bang your head
when having a shower.
This room is the same price as the one used by our friends but nowhere
near the value. We would have been totally happy with the hotel if we
had not had this corner room. They could still use these rooms at a
reduced price and with only one bed in the bedroom.
The hotel is well situated and there is a supermarket nearby which
enabled us to provide our own breakfast. You could cook most meals in
the very good kitchen.
We found the staff to be very nice.

Even though we used Priority Club points to stay here and it was free, I
would have rather paid to stay in another hotel. Outside of the helpful
staff, this hotel doesn't deserve to be called a Holiday Inn, much less
a Sunspree Resort. The location is great until after dark, when rowdy
young people start walking the Whistler Village yelling and screaming.
But aside from that, the room was sparse, the bed was small and lumpy
and the general feeling of it was depressing. And we even used extra
points to get an "upgrade". I still don't know what that means. If you
have another choice, take it, because Holiday Inn Hotel Whistler is not a great hotel.

Stayed here just one night but it was great surprise to have a
washer/dryer in room to catch up with washing from our two week trip to
Canada.
Laurel at reception organised a cake and decorations for my daughter's
birthday (obviously there's a charge for this but the cake was great!)
and left a lovely card in the room. I found the best deal through
www.allure-hotels.com
Room was clean and would be very cosy in winter with its fireplace. Nice
little balcony too.
All in all very good
