This hotel is well positioned for the slopes and could be one of the best in
Whistler, but the problem is the noise. We knew when we booked about the noise,
but chose to ignore, as we both ski hard and sleep well. BIG MISTAKE!!!! The
management allow the restaurant clientele to exit via the pool area well after
midnight so don’t bank on any sleep before 12.30. The gate self shuts with a
bang. In fact all doors shut with an annoying bang. The windows are paper thin
hence the late night noise is not suppressed. The fridge is very noisy also. In
the reception there is a notice saying they strive to get 5 stars from trip
advisor. They have no chance because the management won’t do anything about the
noise problems. It’s easy – Cushion the doors, redirect restaurant clientele and
ask to leave quietly, hang heavy curtains, replace glazing and replace fridge.
They will then get 5 stars.

We paid quite a premium to stay at a studio room of this hotel during Christmas.
The location of the hotel is very good, only minutes walk from the gondola, ski
rental shop, restaurants, etc. Some but not of the staff at the front desk were
helpful and friendly. There is supposed to be free wifi in the room, but it
rarely worked during our 4 nights stay there.

Hotel couldn't be better located Steps from the ski lifts, in the middle of the
village. Stayed in a loft room, which was very nice. Small dry sauna room and
full bath in upstairs. Cool living room with gas fireplace and fully equipped
kitchen downstairs. Very roomy and clean. Staff was OK, didn't use their
services that much. Parking hall with fee under the hotel. Going to recommend
this hotel.

We picked the Mountainside Lodge for a girls' getaway weekend, based on the
great location (right in the village, easy walk to everything) and the price
(fantastic shoulder-season rates). We reserved a 1-bedroom loft with kitchen,
and had a great weekend. There were some minor hiccups, but overall, for the
price it can't be beat.

Pros:
The room was clean and, although it's an older property, the rooms are nicely
updated - cozy, nice colours, quite plush for such a reasonably priced place.
The beds were very comfy, and there were lots of them - a queen sized bed in the
loft, a queen-sized pullout couch, and even a little trundle bed in the dining
room. Loads of blankets and pillows (once we found them).
The full-size kitchen was a little small, but well-equipped for us to cook
dinner and breakfast.
Lots of fluffy towels in the 2 bathrooms - great for all us girls and our
showers.
There's even a sauna off the upstairs loft, which is an interesting touch,
although we didn't use it.
The location can't be beat! In the lower village, you can walk to everything.
Very close to the base of Whistler (chairlifts).
The restaurant in the hotel, one of the Umberto's locations, was pricey, but
excellent.
