Hotel Review of the Crystal Lodge Hotel Whistler

We stayed here only a night, which is a shame. I could have stayed a bit longer.
The room was clean. Happy to recommend to anyone who visits Whistler, Canada.

Stayed 2 nights at Crystal Lodge with my boyfriend in September. Purchased a
Living Social voucher including 2-night stay, Peak-to-Peak lift tickets, and
dinner for 2 at Ric's Grill.
Crystal Lodge is centrally located on the Village Stroll in Whistler Village and
a very short walk to the lifts. This would be great in the winter for
skiing/boarding convenience. Finding the parking lot was complicated though.
Underground parking was $22 per night - quite pricey in my opinion and not
completely secure (open to outside access).
Staff were very helpful and friendly. I noticed there was a concierge person
standing in the lobby every time I walked by, always smiling and once asked if
we needed assistance, could possibly be there for security purposes as well.
The traditional room is unfortunately very small - tiny bathroom, old tv, very
little closet/counter space. Didn't look much like the picture on the website.
Also didn't like that there is not enough lighting. There is free wireless
internet included. Our window looked right out onto the Village Stroll, which is
a nice view but was noisy on the Fri & Sat nights when we stayed!
What made up for the below-average room is the excellent location and dining
options. Starbucks and Spaghetti Factory are right downstairs. Of course tons of
other options within a short walk as well. Ric's Grill originally did not have a
table for us on our 2nd night because it was Labour Day long weekend. However,
because we were leaving the next day, they did eventually decide to accommodate
us for our dinner included in the voucher.
With the many options available, I will probably try another hotel in the
Village next time.

Came to Whistler for the second time from Australia in January 2011. Last trip
stayed in Lost Lake Lodge, and this time wanted to stay right in the heart of
the action. Crystal Lodge was spot-on in this regard - fantastic location, easy
walk in ski boots to the mountain base, helpful staff, and easy access to
restaurants, bars, coffee etc. We had a one bedroom suite, which was great -
clean, comfortable, full kitchen, generally modern and in good condition. The
only minor negative comment is there is no drying room or locker room for wet
ski gear and ski boots, so they end up just getting stored in the cupboards in
the room. But this is only minor - we had a fantastic time in a great location,
and would fully recommend Crystal to my friends.

Our family of 4 stayed 6 nights in a one bedroom suite. The upgrade to a suite
from a room made a big difference in the quality of our vacation particularly
with 2 teenage boys it was nice having a second bathroom and a large living
area.
The suites are freshly upgraded with all needed amenities for cooking. The
cleaning staff are amazing (merci Celine). The front desk and bell hops are
friendly, efficient & always helpful.
Frankly at 2 minutes from the lifts, grocery store, liquor store, great
restaurants, its hard to beat this hotel for price - quality vs the many others
I compared it too. We had friends at a well known pricier hotel who paid much
more for lesser quality.
Our room was not on the Stroll (at our request to avoid the noise). That said,
we still had 2 nights on 6 with some noise in the middle of the night - beyond
the control of the hotel. Only reason for my notch down on sleep quality. I had
ear plugs just in case.
Overall, thank you Crystal and its staff for their hard work and dedication.

We liked this hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our room (a
deluxe room) was one of the largest that I have seen for a ski resort. The
difference in size to a standard one (where my parents stayed) is significant -
so bear that in mind when considering paying more for an upgrade.
The hotel is nicely placed in the centre of the village and also close to the
ski lifts. The only downside of course is the cost but hey this is Whistler. In
fact compared to some of the restaurant bills we got, I ended up thinking that
the room rate was the most reasonable part of the vacation! |
