First time to Whistler and couldn't have asked for better weather. The hotel was
perfectly located in the Village. Very nice hotel, friendly staff, free
internet, handy kitchenette. My only comment is to not rent the studio with the
murphy bed. Woke up each morning with a very sore back from a thin, hard
mattress.

My husband and I received a gift of a week-long timeshare stay at the
Mountainside Lodge in July. It was our first visit to Whistler. Our friends had
been to Whistler, but always in the winter with snow. So, we were not really
sure what to expect in the summer. Our introduction to the Lodge was wonderful.
As soon as the van dropped us off in front of the Lodge, two of the staff
members helped us carry our luggage up the stairs to the lobby. We later
discovered there was an elevator in the parking garage, but we were impressed
with how helpful and attentive they were. We were checked in without any
trouble, and the friendly lady at the front desk even showed us a coupon at the
back of the weekly newspaper that would give us a discount on groceries from the
IGA Supermarket. It was a smooth check-in. We had a one-bedroom place on the
corner. We overlooked the pool. To the left, we had a view of the beautiful
mountain and to the right, we could watch the bicyclists going down the hill.
There was a full-kitchen, including a dishwasher. We had two televisions and a
DVD player. We went to the Whistler Public Library and borrowed DVDs from their
collection to watch in the room. The location of the Mountainside Lodge is
terrific. It's steps away from places to eat, the Whistler Cinema, and so close
to the gondola that'll take you to the "Peak to Peak." And, it's also close to
the Upper Village. I liked that it was far enough away from the slightly more
crowded (but never packed) Lower Village, but so close and convenient that you
could walk just a few minutes and be right there, amidst the shops and
restaurants. They also had free wi-fi, a great plus. And, the breakfast nook in
the kitchen was very useful. We also had a room with a hot tub, so that was
nice. The room was cleaned well, and, in fact, when we checked in, they asked us
what time we preferred our room to be cleaned every day. We were staying as
timeshare guests, but we were never ever pressured or even approached to attend
a sales talk. We had a fantastic time in Whistler and enjoyed the beauty of the
area. Summer turned out to be a great time to visit, and we're looking forward
to our next stay. I'd definitely recommend the Mountainside Lodge. We strolled
through other hotels while in Whistler, and some of them were quite nice, but,
price wise and location wise, I think the Mountainside Lodge is an excellent
deal and good value.Guest Review of the Mountainside Lodge Whistler

I stayed here with my partner and 2 friends. The location is fantastic, about 1
minute from the Gondolas. The loft has a nice separation with a bed room
upstairs and the sofa bed downstairs. I would not stay here with more than 4
adults, but for 4 it was fine.
The lofts have 2 bathrooms which made getting ready much easier. The kitchen was
fully equipped. Our room was quite. The pilot light in the fireplace was oddly
loud, luckily we are not light sleepers so this did not bother us.
I found the staff to be good overall, with some friendly individuals. The hotel
takes $200 deposit on arrival for any expenses / damages which I thought was a
bit odd, especially as the hotel room is paid for up front with a less than fair
cancellation policy.
The water was scheduled for 'unscheduled' maintenance on our last day so the
water was shut off at 10am while checkout was at 11am. This made check out a bit
more challenging for a group of adults who had been out late the night before.
We were given a later checkout at 11:30 which was appreciated.
I would stay in this hotel again.

We stayed here for a week from 28 January through to today, as an exchange
through Interval International. The one bedroom apartment was extremely well
equipped with good furnishings. We looked over the pool and hot tub, with views
to the slopes. We agree with other reviewers regarding the noise issue,
especially at the weekend. The windows do not seem to block any noise at all.
Hot tub was welcomed, but if you didn't get there early got extremely busy.
Think also the management could do more to police the deck/pool area, as
although there are no smoking signs in place, on several occasions we observed
people smoking whilst in the hot tub.
All staff were extremely friendly, with check-in and out efficient.

We stayed in a one bedroom deluxe suite (two rooms joined with kitchen etc) with
a mountain view. The main issue was the noise. The windows are not very good for
sound. Our room was actually at the back facing the road and the mountains. At 5
am the garbage trucks would arrive to pick up the gargage for the hotels around
us which you could hear clearly. You could also hear all the delivery trucks
making their early morning deliveries. It is also a main road of the Whistler
Village area so buses and trucks are going by constantly - the larger ones are
pretty noisy. The main bus stop for skiers arriving for the day was right
outside our window.
The location was great for the price - just a short walk to the base of the
hills or the village shops (no need for shuttles). The hotel is older but being
maintained - freshly painted and kept clean. The staff seemed friendly.
The only other minor issue was the hair dryers - they last about 10 seconds then
overheat and you have to wait for them to cool down.
