Horstman House is located in the Upper Village and is served by the free shuttle
bus. Distance to the slopes and the village is a pleasant walk in the summer but
in winter with skis and boots you may want to take the bus.

The unit was a generous size and the location of the bathrooms en-suite to the
bedrooms is very convenient. Everything was clean. All in a very nice unit.
Two minor negatives: The unit is fairly dark because daylight is blocked by
forested hillside right in the back . A few more lamps with decent wattage bulbs
would have helped. In general the unit is well appointed except that there are
too few plates, glasses, forks and knives etc. Even with 4 people we had to run
the dishwasher after every meal.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment . Very happy with the place and excellent
value
Quiet location in the Upper Village - a 10 minute walk up the road from the Four
Seasons. Getting to the main village proper is a 20 minute leisurely stroll
downhill - very pleasant. Excellent apartment - spacious, well furnished and
well maintained. Nothing glitzy but very comfortable - just like a very nice
private apartment (which it actually is - all the apartments are owned by
individual owners and travellers only get to stay in the apartments when the
owners are not using them). Comprehensively equipped kitchen - good enough for
some serious cooking - and separate washing machine and dryer; it's ideal for
families.
There's a free bus service into the village with the bus stop just across the
road from the apartment - 15/20 minute intervals between buses but just pick up
a timetable to minimise wait times.
Only downsides were - (i) the underground parking space we were given was
extremely tight; luck of the draw I think as some spaces are much easier to get
into than others (ii) we stayed on the second floor at the back - facing some
very nice woods. This would have been great if we'd been on the third or fourth
floors but because the building is on a slope, rear-ward facing second floor
units are effectively ground floor units and are rather dark because of the
trees outside

We booked an anonymous room on the Whistler Blackcomb website as a last minute
deal and were given a one bedroom room at Horstman House at a significant
discount. It turned out to be a perfect home away from home for my wife and I
for our 5 day stay at Whistler.
The location is as good as pretty much anywhere in Whistler given the
convenience of the free shuttles. The full kitchen and TV of Horstman House was
a great way to spend the evening while we recovered from days of skiing.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. Everything was easy to use. There are bus
stops right in front of the building and it is a 5 minute trip to the chairlifts
and/or village.

This is our second stay at the Horstman House, and the first time in winter. We
will definitely make this our repeat lodging in Whistler. It is in the upper
village, comfortably away from the crowds, yet convenient to town with a free
bus stop right outside. In terms of ski access, the Blackcomb day lodge was just
3 stops away, and you can supposedly ski back to it (although we didn't try
this).
Accommodations were cozy, and pretty standard for this class of condo. Kitchen
could have been stocked with a fry pan, but otherwise had everything we needed.
There is a gas fireplace, and 2 small flat screen TV's. Although the one in the
bedroom was hooked up to a VCR, which probably no one uses anymore. The outdoor
hot tub and pool is a nice feature of the property, and it was not overly
crowded when we went to use it. Other amenities include locked storage for skis,
pool table in the lobby.
This is a small property, low key, but very comfortable, and convenient.

We had a very enjoyable stay with everything we needed and more. The short walk
into town and back was very pleasant especially after supper on Whistler
Mountain. Would definitely stay there again. |
