Guests Comments about Coast Hotel Whistler Blackcomb

We chose the Coast because of the great deal on a 3 night rate and the
fact that it is pet friendly. The suite was spacious and clean-a well
appointed kitchen (only thing missing was paper towels and a few extra
fry pans). It was very quiet in the suite and the surroundings peaceful.
The free shuttle stops right out front which was a huge bonus because
the hotel is up in the benchland area. You can walk down to the upper
village via the back trail which exits on the ski hill when the weather
and light is good-don't think it would be an easy hike in winter! The
free breakfast was a bit disappointing mostly due to the setup of the
breakfast area. Lots of kids sandwiched into the waffle station,
blocking access to everything else, including the use of the toaster.
Would strongly suggest that the waffle station be setup somewhere on its
own on another counter so that the food area isn't so congested. This
aside, it was a great stay with staff that went out of their way to
accommodate you.

Located high up on the Blackcomb mountain, this is a really nice hotel
complete with ski out access. With no snow on the ground, its an easy
walk down to the village underneath the ski lift. The bed was comfy,
room big enough for the entire family, and the pool/hot tub area really
nice. Overall very clean and pet friendly too.
No restaurant anywhere near here, so if you are hungry you need to buy
something from the tiny store to microwave or go to the village.

wasn't expecting so many kids which took over the place. in the pool,
the hot tub, just everywhere. traveling with another couple who were
also taken back by this. my daughters are all grown and we like to have
fun too, but when you can't get near the pool or hot tub it's not
relaxing for us. the breakfast was very good and the shuttle into town
brought us back right in front of the hotel. i asked for our room to be
ready for 3pm and were there at 3pm, but it was not ready until 4pm. the
front of the hotel is impressive, but the inside needs updating. maybe
the children ran it down.

There was very little wait to check in when we arrived. We were a little
confused about how to walk back to the village (as we took the
shuttle/bus up there) and the staff were very thorough on explaining
directions. It's less than a 10 minute walk away.
The room was very clean and comfortable. Reasonably priced. The
complimentary breakfast was excellent!
Will definitely recommend to others and we hope to return soon.

Booked a Family Whistler Getaway package on the long weekend and it was
a great value considering when we booked. We got a studio room that was
completely comfortable - clean, neat, well laid out with a nice kitchen
and bathroom with a great shower, a queen bed, couch, chair, flat screen
tv, balcony, fireplace, and nice high ceilings. Room was also
surprisingly odor free (given that dogs are frequent guests of this
property) and quiet for the most part. Room overlooked the front
entrance and we did hear noisy people checking out early. Also received
a welcome basket filled with grocery goodies like spaghetti, sauce,
chips and salsa, cookies, chocolate, popcorn, and crackers. Parking was
included and though we didn't have a pet, the pet fee was also waived in
this package if we did.
Staff did charge us $15 for parking, when it was included in our
package, and our wake up call was not carried out, but when we raised
this with the staff, they did apologize for both incidents at least and
removed the charge and offered us a late checkout. Had a problem with
our tv too, but a staff member promptly came up to fix it for us.
Breakfast was busy and full of KIDS so be prepared for that and having
to wait for a table. But breakfast was good and plentiful and included
scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh sliced tomatoes, whole
strawberries, muffins, bread, pastries, yogurt, hot oatmeal, cold
cereals, make-your-own waffles with strawberries and whipped cream,
apples, bananas, nectarines, juices, milk, coffee and tea. Lots of items
to satisfy anyone's tastes.
Location is a little remote, but complimentary shuttle to/from the
village is awesome, and the walk down Blackcomb to the upper village and
Whistler is enjoyable and maybe 15 min or so.
Didn't use pool area, but water was warm and it looked inviting, if you
don't mind kids. Note: this is a family and dog hotel! Robes were also
provided in the room for guests.
Lobby has a guest computer and printer to use and on the day of
checkout, the hotel allows you to park until 6 pm if you wish to stay
and take in other actives before you actually leave - very helpful. |
